Projectiles in Stardust Battle: Arena Combat

Working on Stardust Battle: Arena Combat at FunkyPanda Games was an exciting challenge, especially since the game was designed for mobile capabilities.

Projectiles, then, had to be visually compelling yet optimised to ensure smooth performance. I focused on using flipbooks and efficient particle systems that maintained visual quality without taxing the device.


Design & Process

Creating each projectile involved careful planning. I began by crafting 3D animations for each effect, which were then rendered into flipbooks. To add detail, I painted over each frame, gigving the projectiles a vibrant look while reducing complexity. The flipbooks brought life to each projectile without requiring real-time 3D rendering.
