Renowned Explorers - Dieselpunk Heroes
Have you played Renowned Explorers: International Society?
It perfectly encapsulates all the themes and elements of the Dieselpunk genre. It centres around a society of adventurers who deploy teams of 3 all around the world in search of treasure.
The explorers are categorised as fighters, scouts, speakers and scientists.
I wanted to create a handful of characters picked from the genre and adapt them to this beaut of a game.
In my mind Batman, Cliff Securd from The Rocketeer (1991), and the robot Futura from Metropolis (1926) each possessed an aspect of the Dieselpunk hero.
For Bruce Wayne, I chose a military-style trenchcoat and uniform with slight modifications. The scientists overall theme is blue so I made sure to incorporate subtle tones of blue in the outfit as well having blue lenses.
The fighters theme is a mix of red and yellow which are coincidentally Cliff Securd’s as well so this one was a no brainer.
The scouts class’s adaptability lends itself very well to representing Futura, all I had to do was simplify the design.
